Breath & Body Massage: Welcome back to your body.
As a queer person with some body dysphoria, there are times when I don’t want to acknowledge my body. This massage gently brought me back. Thank you, thank you.
What happens in a Breath & Body session?
This unique bodywork session is designed to invite you gently back into your body over the course of an hour. We combine breathwork, guided meditation, and massage therapy to relieve stress and anxiety and deeply ground in the present moment.
Perfect for those unfamiliar with massage or meditation, we'll give you clear instructions for what you need to do, invite you to set boundaries about your body, and help you integrate your experience into your daily life so you get lasting value from each treatment. As a result, these sessions include more talking and client participation than your typical spa massage.
Your experience here is designed to be calming for all your senses, from the aromatherapy to the weighted blanket. This gives a stressed, guarded, and exhausted nervous system the opportunity to rest and reset. We use gentle massage to help your brain find your body, based on Polyvagal Theory and our 5-Point Anxiety Relief Massage framework. Each treatment includes breathwork and guided meditation that you can continue to practice at home.
Much like learning to play an instrument, learning to relax takes consistent practice, and massage time is your opportunity to safely and deeply reconnect with yourself. Over the course of a few sessions, you'll learn how to "find your body" and use it to regulate your nervous system. Our clients have noticed benefits such as an immediate sense of ease and calm after each treatment, falling asleep faster at night, less anxiety, feeling more "present" and in their body throughout the day, increased focus and creativity, and coping better with stress.
It's the magic of stepping out of anxiety and finding safety in the here and now. It frees you up to focus on the good parts of life.
It has been so healing to allow my body receive the care and attention I denied it for so many years.
